SALTING SERVICES

Yard Master uses 3 types of salts.  The choice is made based on surface type and temperature.  We use:

• Sodium Chloride (rock salt) for parking lots, driveways and roadways.
• Magnesium Chloride for sidewalks and for colder temperature applications
• Calcium Chloride on areas adjacent to lawns to help lessen turf damage and in extremely cold temperatures.

For gravel driveways, we recommend frequent clearing and the use of sand for best results as melting products do not work well on porous surfaces such as gravel.

Yard Masters monitors the amount of salts applied and only use as much as necessary to create non-slip surfaces.  We only charge our clients for the minimum salt required.  Some of our clients report significant savings in their cost of salt using our approach.  This also helps the environment and limits damage to adjacent plants, grass and soil.
